Our story

Good Change Science was founded by Dr Lou Atkins PhD, CPsychol, AFBPsS. Lou is an internationally recognised behavioural scientist, author, and trainer with over two decades of experience applying behavioural science to complex, real-world challenges.

Good Change Science has evolved to deliver projects working with an international network of associates such as University College London's Centre for Behaviour Change and Behaviour Is Everything

 

Founder and Lead Consultant, Lou is co-author of The Behaviour Change Wheel: A Guide to Designing Interventions, a widely used resource for designing behaviour change interventions using the COM-B model and other frameworks.

Her work in academic research spans 27 years, ten of which were spent leading the University College London Centre for Behaviour Change’s International Training Programme where she currently serves as an Associate. She has published over 80 academic papers and is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. 

Working across sectors Lou has helped organisations understand behaviour in context and design effective, evidence-based interventions. She is known for her clarity in communicating behavioural science and her leadership in building capability through training and collaboration.

 

She supports professionals and researchers worldwide in applying behavioural science in their own settings. Her approach combines systems thinking, rigorous evaluation, and deep stakeholder engagement to deliver lasting, impactful change.

Good Change Science is proudly based in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The unfurling silver fern, or koru, is a powerful symbol in Māori art representing new beginnings, growth and change.
